Covington Autoglass was founded by John Griffin, who has been in the Glass Business for over 15 years. “After I had spent years in the pizza business, Corporate Pizza Hut was selling out to franchises,” John recounts. “I had been climbing the ranks fast, and it all came to a halt. I eventually left, and my sister’s mother-in-law worked for Safelite. She got me a job when they were planning their nationwide radio and TV campaign. In the beginning, they were great to work for, but they inevitably grew so big that they no longer valued their employees or customers. I left and started over in the IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers). I had a family to provide for, so I continued to do auto glass repair on the side to make ends meet. On one occasion, my customer said her husband wanted to speak to me when I was finished. His name was John as well, and he was the owner of Modern Day Digital. He said that he didn’t know anything about my business, but he believed he could help me out. We ended up at a men’s church event together. The Lord told me that day the person I was with was going to help me with my business. Covington Autoglass grew and flourished in the following years, and we are so excited about what the Lord has in store in 2025.”
“At Covington Autoglass, we specialize in repairing chips in your windshield caused by rocks or road debris,” John continues. “We use a high-quality acrylic resin that fills in the void and bonds with the glass. As established in our lifetime warranty, if the damage spreads or you are not satisfied, we will credit the cost of repair to replacement. We handle all your replacement needs as well, utilizing quality glass and urethane to ensure we meet industry standards for safety. We also offer an additional lifetime warranty on leaks, air noise, or any other workmanship issues. As a part of your car’s safety features, you may have a lane departure warning system camera that will require recalibration after the installation of your new windshield. Currently, Covington Autoglass is a small family-run business. John covers the mobile work, and his wife, Kristin, answers the phones while home-schooling their 6 children. “She is such a rock star,” adds John. “We make quite the team, but we do have growth plans this year. We hope to serve more communities and reach new markets in the coming months, including further exposure in Georgia’s Lake Country through our advertising in Stroll. We already have several highly talented technicians ready to come on board and a few office staff, as long as we can see some sustainable growth. Hopefully, we can even get our first shop location this year.” To stay active in their community, John and Kristin are proud members of Darien Baptist Church in Sparta, where John helps lead the church’s men’s ministry. They also contribute to local food pantries regularly.
