Black Sheep Interiors was founded by Shane Meder. Since then, the company has grown exponentially and flourished, serving clients all over Georgia and nationwide, including homes and estates in Palm Springs, Key Largo, Naples, Washington, D.C., Cashiers, Charleston, St. Louis, Fort Lauderdale, 30A, and Bakers Bay, Bahamas. This year marks a new milestone for Black Sheep Interiors, as Summer Wood, the principal interior designer, purchased the company on January 1st. 

Who is Summer Wood?

“As a young child, I watched my mother and father's great eye for detail and beauty for the interior and exterior of our home,” Summer recounts. “My parents owned a commercial construction company, so I was surrounded by the design process my entire life. I loved watching projects come to life throughout the planning, designing, and building phases. Going to school for interior design was a natural move for me.” 

Summer has been with Black Sheep Interiors since 2019, and for the past 3 1/2 years she has managed and operated the company. Her years of experience and love for Black Sheep prompted Summer to purchase the business at the beginning of this year, and she is beyond excited about her new role. “I have always been fascinated by the way spaces can influence our emotions and behaviors,” she continues. “The transformative power of design and its ability to create harmonious and functional environments has always captivated me, and that's what ultimately drew me into the world of interior design. I have a sign in my office that reads ‘I am going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life – Ellise de Wolfe. My goal at Black Sheep is not just to create beautiful, functional homes but to build meaningful connections in the process. I believe that great design stems from truly understanding my clients—their dreams, their needs, and the essence of who they are. To me, every project is an opportunity to nurture a relationship and create a space that feels like them. Designing a home is deeply personal, and I cherish the trust my clients place in me. It’s this trust that transforms the design journey into a partnership—and often, into a lasting friendship.” 

Summer lives in Madison, Georgia, with her husband Allen, and their German Shepherd, Olive. This year, they will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary! Their son, Luke, is a designer at Black Sheep, and their daughter, Landry, is a veterinary assistant in Madison. 

What Sets Black Sheep Interiors Apart?

Black Sheep Interiors is a turnkey design firm, that primarily works with its clients from the ground up. “This starts with sitting down with your builder and architect, reviewing the plans, and working together to create exactly what you want for your space,” adds Summer. “From there, we work with the clients on every interior selection of the home, starting with plumbing, lights, flooring, furniture, rugs, bedding, drapes, accessories, and art – all the way down to those turnkey items like towels, sheets, pots, and pans. We even help you stock your pantry. If you need it, we take care of it! 

What’s next for Black Sheep Interiors?

Black Sheep Interiors is excited to see company growth. They have hired several new employees and expanded their product lines. They are constantly learning and growing with new design techniques and developing and enhancing each client’s experience. Black Sheep also plans to be more involved with community outreach programs. They currently work with Habitat for Humanity and Circle of Love.
