Family Spotlight: Meet the Morris Family

This month, Stroll the Georgia Club spotlights the Morris family. David Morris is originally from Gainesville, FL, while Molly hails from Kenton, OH. David graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Economics, then he went on to receive his MBA from Texas A&M University. Molly, on the other hand, graduated from Miami University with degrees in Marketing and Public Relations. The couple first met in 2000 at Ford Motor Company’s Atlanta Regional Office. At the time, both David and Molly worked in marketing and sales. David’s job included Brand Manager for Lincoln Mercury, and Molly held roles as Zone Manager, Operations Manager, and Franchising Manager.
David and Molly are now happily married with three wonderful children: Nolan, Denton, and Warren. Nolan, the oldest, is a Junior at University of Georgia, majoring in Economics at the Terry College of Business. Denton is a Senior at North Oconee High School and is a 3-year letterman with the baseball team. Warren, the youngest of the bunch, is currently in the 7th grade at North Oconee. He plays soccer and loves fishing.
David now works as a Financial Planner at Grandview Wealth Advisors in Suwanee, GA, while Molly is Partner and Director of Operations at Akins Ford in Winder, GA. She is also a Partner and Dealer Principal at Akins Chevrolet in Commerce, GA.
Molly’s work in the area is what initially brought the Morris family to The Georgia Club. Molly and David also saw The Georgia Club as the perfect environment for their family, with the added benefit of being so close to North Oconee and the University of Georgia, keeping the whole family close. The Morris family has lived at TGC since July of 2022.
Over the last three years living here, the Morris family has fallen in love with life here in the club. “We love to exercise,” states Molly. “So I have found a lot of peace in taking long walks here. There are also great running paths for David!” David and Molly also love the dining options available here. “We are so thankful that when we get super busy, we can just pop in the club and have a fantastic meal. We love wine dinners as well, and we recently joined the wine club, where we have enjoyed great conversations and great wine!” David also loves to golf, and he even joined the MGA this year, loving the opportunity to play more and meet new people.
The Morris family loves to give back to their community in any way that they can. They proudly attend Athens Church, and they support the Boys & Girls Club of Winder, ESP, and NG3. Molly is also on the Boards of both the Adult Literacy Barrow and SIMS Academy.
In their free time, David and Molly love to stay physically active. In fact, David is currently training for an Ironman Triathlon. Molly enjoys traveling, and she works out often to stay focused!
Believe it or not, this is not the Morris family’s first experience being on the cover of a magazine! 10 years ago, they were featured on the cover of Life in the Park magazine. They are so excited to be featured in Stroll the Georgia Club!
