Student Spotlight - Colt Bailey

Colt Bailey is a local student and an aspiring athlete here at Lake Oconee. Colt is a determined young man, setting his sights on big goals, holding tight to every ounce of discipline needed to achieve them. This month, Stroll Lake Oconee had the pleasure of sitting down with Colt to get to know him a bit better.

What school do you attend, and what grade are you in?

I attend Lake Oconee Academy, and I’m in the 7th grade.

What is your favorite subject, and why?

My favorite subject is Computer Literacy. Mr. Jiang, our Computer Literacy teacher, is my favorite. He’s a great teacher and is so nice!

Have you received any academic awards at your school?

I received an award for having all A’s and B’s all year long.

What sports do you participate in?

I play middle school basketball and travel AAU basketball.

Tell us a bit more about your love for basketball.

I started playing six years ago. I enjoy playing basketball because it helps me keep a clear head and is my favorite sport. Steph Curry is my favorite NBA player, and I want to play like him. I think he’s one of the best!

Do you know where you’d like to attend college? What would be your major/career of choice?

I’d like to attend the University of North Carolina and major in Sports Management. I want to be in the NBA! 

What’s your biggest motivation?

Watching my parents work hard motivates me to do the same to make it into the NBA! Their work ethic inspires me.

How do you like to spend your free time?

I enjoy playing basketball and reading the Bible. I love the pools in Reynolds, and I have made a ton of friends who live close by!

Do you have a favorite Bible verse?

My favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”
