Student Spotlight: Christina Chronos

Dance is more than just rhythm. Dancers operate with rigid discipline, precise timing, and a stage presence as vigorous and animated as any Broadway superstar. This month, Stroll Inside the Gates had the opportunity to sit down with Christina Chronos, a rising junior at Athens Academy and an aspiring dancer, to learn more about her and her many talents.

Let’s set the record straight: Christina is a young woman with many passions. Though dance might appear to be a single skill, the talent it takes to dance applies to countless practices, and Christina takes full advantage of this. Christina trains in ballet with Paris Ballet and Dance, an affiliate of the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School based in New York City. She trains under the direction of Jean Hughes Ferry of the National Ballet de Marseille, Charles Jude of Toile at Paris Opera Ballet, and Olivier Pardina, the artistic director of Nice Opera House. Backed by such excellent guidance, Christina is the Spirit Award-winning captain of Athens Academy’s Football Cheerleading squad and a competitive dancer at Oconee Youth School of Performance. She also lends her talents to her school’s Drama Club and Dance Club and is a proud participant in the Miracle Fundraiser for Children’s Hospitals.

Though Christina is an especially creative individual, she has learned to enjoy the left-brained, logical challenges that subjects like math offer. She admires Mr. Bright, Athens Academy’s upper school math teacher, for his clear communication and devotion to connecting with his students. Pair talented teachers with a mind as brilliant and balanced as Christina’s, and the results overflow in Algebra awards, impressive grades, and a desire to pursue harder and higher education.

As Christina reaps the rewards of her academic diligence, she looks toward a future in medicine, using herself to better others. Christina’s parents, Kim and Dr. Nicolas Chronos, are both involved in the medical field and are both huge inspirations to Christina. Seeing her parents help patients has made a lasting impact on her life, and she aspires to one day show that same compassion through medicine.

With dance, cheerleading, medicine, and more, Christina Chronos lives a life of discipline, dance, and selflessness. Have no doubt, Christina is sailing toward an exciting future, making waves and turning heads as she goes. Both Stroll and all of the Lake Country community couldn’t be more proud.
