Meet Ashley Britt
This month, Stroll The Georgia Club spotlights Ashley Britt, a current resident of The Georgia Club and recent graduate of the University of Georgia’s Emerging Media master’s program. Born and raised in Oconee County alongside her two siblings, Madi and Josh, Ashley always knew UGA would be a big part of her story.
Ashley first earned her undergraduate degree in Public Relations with a focus in marketing and advertising. During her junior year, she began interning with Gilly Francis Events, where she quickly discovered a passion for event planning and weddings.
“I started out helping with day-of weddings and quickly realized how much I loved being part of such meaningful moments,” Ashley says. “I genuinely care about making sure everything is perfect and that the couple feels taken care of, and I love the relationships that come with it.”
That experience inspired Ashley to continue her education and pursue her master’s degree in Emerging Media at UGA. The program combines creativity, technology, and strategy through hands-on work in areas like design, branding, digital storytelling, user experience, and project management.
“I chose the degree because it wasn’t just one thing,” Ashley explains. “It gave me experience in so many different areas, and I still use those skills every day.”
During her graduate program, Ashley began working at the University of Georgia’s Georgia Center as an Event Coordinator, a role she continues in today. Her position allows her to coordinate everything from university events to corporate conferences and social celebrations while utilizing many of the skills she developed through her degree, including communication, organization, branding, and design.
While balancing graduate school and her full-time role at UGA, Ashley also continued working weddings on weekends with Gilly Francis Events, where she has now been for over two years.
Ashley says one of her favorite parts of her time at UGA was having opportunities to work on meaningful, real-world projects. One project especially close to her was helping create the TGC Women’s Bible Study website alongside Lisa Godwin. “Seeing everything come together after months of planning and designing was really rewarding,” she says.
Now settled into both her career and this next season of life, Ashley recently got engaged to her fiancé, Riley, after he surprised her with a proposal on a dock in Jacksonville, Florida, followed by a celebration with friends and family. The couple has been together for four years and plans to get married next May.
Ashley’s parents moved to The Georgia Club in 2022, and she recently moved back home during her engagement to save before the wedding. “I didn’t expect to love it as much as I do,” Ashley says. “It’s been such a fun season.”
Her dog Moose has especially enjoyed the move. “Going from apartment living to having a big backyard and a dog park has been the best thing for him — and honestly for me too. It just feels easy living here.”
Family remains one of the most important parts of Ashley’s life, and she’s grateful for this season spent close to home before getting married.
“I’m really grateful for where I am right now,” Ashley says. “Everything kind of fell into place in a way I didn’t expect, and I couldn’t be more excited for this next season of life.”
