Family Spotlight: The Kuntze-Spritzer Family

This month, Stroll Inside the Gates spotlights the Kuntze-Spritzer family. Cindy Spritzer was born in upstate New York, while Todd Kuntze was born in the south side of Chicago, but they spent most of their lives in Fort Lauderdale, FL. For her undergraduate studies, Cindy attended the University of Florida in Gainesville and is a loyal Gator but will cheer for UGA when they are not playing her team. Todd took over his father’s construction company, which started in 1962, and he continues to run that today. The couple first met 8 years ago through mutual friends while they were both living in Ft. Lauderdale, and they recently got married in November at Empire Mills in Madison.

Todd and Cindy are so grateful to be blessed with an amazing, blended family, including Todd’s three adult children, Austin, Alexis, and Jillian Kuntze. Austin Kuntze, the oldest, lives in California and is an ICU Nurse, and Alexis Kuntze works in a hip salon in Ft. Lauderdale. Jillian Kuntze, the youngest, graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and is currently getting her doctorate in Physical Therapy. They were all part of the wedding party in November.

Cindy currently works for PWC, where she oversees business development in some of the firm’s largest accounts. Todd still owns a construction company in Florida and owns a property management, construction, and maintenance company here in Georgia’s Lake Country. Todd plans to have a fabrication shop to embrace his true passion, building things. “I have built racecars, motorcycles, and hot rods my entire life,” adds Todd. “My goal is to get back in the shop and start creating cool things!” In retirement Todd’s vision is to fill it with his wide assortment of passions, from building hot rods to flying planes.  Cindy will continue to work and plans to play more tennis, travel and write her own sales book “The Sales Huntress – Fearless Pursuit of the sale”. The book will tell real life sales stories with humor, tips, and tricks along the way from a career in sales leadership.

Cindy and Todd first felt drawn to Georgia’s Lake Country through their friendship with long-time Reynolds members Michelle and Lenny Weiss. “I had been friends with Michelle since childhood,” adds Cindy. “Who doesn’t want to retire with their friend of over 50 years? After visiting them a few times, we fell in love with this community and the lake, so we knew Reynolds would be the perfect home for us. We bought our home here and sold our home in Ft. Lauderdale and changed our lives in a weekend!”

Cindy and Todd have lived in Reynolds landing for almost four years now, and they couldn’t be happier here. "As soon as we moved to Reynolds and got our first Stroll magazine, Todd was joking with me that we would be on the cover," Cindy continues. "Once he found out we were selected, he had me laughing after saying that it took us 3 years to get on the cover. We are so appreciative of the spotlight and plan on doing even more to make an impact on our new home."

“We are very fortunate and have the best neighbors in our cul de sac,” states Cindy. “Not to mention our location is perfect! We live close to the back gate of the Landing, so we are right on the lake, close to Todd’s church (Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church), and right by Publix! Our goldendoodles Joey and Shayna are living their best lives here at Reynolds too visiting with our neighbors’ dogs, enjoying boat days on Lake Oconee, and having time to snuggle on our patio in the Fall."

In their time living here in Georgia’s Lake Country, Cindy and Todd have loved staying as active as they can in the community. Cindy and Todd’s claim to fame so far has been their work with the Waterway Soiree, the incredibly successful three-day event that made a huge splash! The 2024 Waterway Soiree was the largest community celebration event on Lake Oconee to date, complete with lake hops, raffles, curated parties, elevated entertainment, food and drinks for sale, and exclusive headliner Myron Mixon. The mission of the Waterway Soiree was to showcase the beauty of Lake Oconee to our amazing community, and it did just that! They plan to help organize another Waterway Soiree, and they can’t wait! Todd’s community involvement is through his work with Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. Todd volunteers with his church as a chef, usher, and greeter.

In her free time, Cindy loves playing tennis. “We have an amazing tennis community here,” she adds. “I started a group called the Wimbledon Wandas, which has grown a lot over the years! We start playing night tennis in the fall.” Cindy is also an aspiring golfer and hopes to get even better at the sport. Todd also loves tennis and golf, but a few recent surgeries put a temporary pause on those hobbies. “I am a frequent visitor of Dr. Stephen Johnson who is an amazing orthopedic surgeon,” adds Todd. “I am almost 100% now though, so I’ll start playing again soon!”

Cindy and Todd’s favorite place to eat locally is The Silver Moon. Todd especially loves their oysters. The couple also loves all the many Reynolds restaurants, like Richland Pointe and Esse. Outside of Georgia’s Lake Country, Cindy and Todd love to dine at Ricardos in Madison, ZZ Simones, and ABC Bagels in Athens.

“Our favorite part about living here is the people. They are incredible and truly want to engage and get to know you. It is just such a great community, and we feel lucky and more grateful to live here every day.” – Cindy and Todd Kuntze-Spritzer
